Group Leader

Reports to: Director/Assistant Director

Duties:

  • Work with other group leaders to plan activities for campers 
  • Inform directors of activity and LOCATION 
  • Ensure your group has materials needed for any activities
  • Ensure cleanliness of environments used


General Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and lead general activities (camp songs, ice breakers, skits, games, etc.)
  • Be familiar with general guidelines
  • Cultivate a nurturing, fun and supportive environment 
  • Ensure safety of campers and support staff 
  • Assessing safety of environments/situations and setting appropriate boundaries necessarily
  • Ensure and maintain a safe environment for campers
  • Cleaning up areas/spaces used
  • Taking out trash, vacuuming, etc as needed!
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents and campers 
  • Set clear expectations and boundaries with campers from day 1
  • Build rapport with campers, staff and parents
  • Ensure that you have relevant staff contact information readily accessible in case of emergencies 
  • Inform directors of camper’s injuries (minor and major) as well as any (behavioral) concerns/issues
  • Inform director of supply needs (equipment, first aid, snacks, etc)


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Experience working with kids or relevant knowledge of child development 
  • Creative, fun, enthusiastic personality with a ‘can do’ attitude 
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with a team
  • Able to clearly communicate across variety of ages 
  • Ability to accept and provide constructive feedback
  • Experience working at a summer camp (preferred but not required)
