Duties:
- Assist and work with Director in:
- Preparing for Camp (see Director’s Checklist)
- Opening and Closing Camp (Doors locked, trash cleared, etc)
- Ensuring all materials are acquired for camp/theme (If applicable)
- Maintains staff contact information and ensures relevant information is shared (see Contact Sheet)
- Ensure staff are familiar with General Guidelines for camp
- Help Enrichment Leaders & Group Leaders prepare room for activities as needed
- Support staff and campers
- Leadership development, behaviour management, and ensuring wellbeing, lunch/break covers, etc
General Responsibilities:
- Oversee and carry out day-to-day operations at camp
- Be familiar with program structure and general guidelines
- Ensure safety of staff and campers
- Knowledge of where campers are
- Assessing safety of environments and setting appropriate boundaries
- Attending field trips/going off campus where needed
- Be familiar with injury protocols
- Be aware of any allergies and take any necessary precautions
- Work as a team to cultivate a nurturing, fun and supportive environment (community, sense of belonging, etc).
- Delegate responsibilities and encourage staff commitment towards excellence
- Ensure staff (including self) are taking breaks
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for staff and campers
- Ensure trash is taken out daily (distribute across staff)
- Build rapport with staff and campers
- Assist in communicating effectively with parents and campers (as needed)
- Inform parents of any field trips that are happening and anything that campers may need to bring
- Inform parents of injury (minor and major)
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Experience working with children, in a team, delegating responsibilities and managing people
- Good problem-solving, communication, time management and organisation skills
- Ability to accept and provide constructive feedback
- Experience working at a summer camp
- Excellent classroom/behaviour management skills
